LABORATORY REPORT UNIT CASE NUMBER NUMBER FA-D-P-C-FP-82-70 70-CID023-10198 (CONSOLIDATED)
Index of Exhibits
A complete index of the exhibits examined in this case is found on pages 1 thru 13 of this consoli- dated report. Note that an alpha-numeric system was adopted by USACIL technicians to identify the evidence forwarded to the laboratory for processing. The system was devised to assist laboratory person- nel in easily identifying the type evidence to be examined (i.e. the letter "D" is the previx utilized for blood-stains, the letter "V" is the prefix used for fingerprints, etc.), while letter suffixes indi- cate the location of where the exhibits were found at the crime scene. (i.e. NB=north bedroom, MBR= master bedroom, K=kitchen, etc.) All evidence in this case was handled in accordance with current Army regulations and accountability records are on file both at the office of the requesting unit and in the administrative and technical divisions of USACIL.

61. No examinations were performed to see if the pieces of surgical gloves were of the same type as the gloves of Exhibit D-245.
The following are approximate sizes of the pieces of surgeon's gloves:
Exhibit I-3 - Size of a dime. Exhibit I-21- Three fourth's of one finger. Exhibit I-213 - Size of a quarter. Exhibit I-226 - Size of a dime.
62. Exhibit L ("Esquire" with red stain on edge): The blood stain appeared to have been made by a person's finger due to it's shape. However, it cannot be positively stated that it was made by a person's finger, since definite ridge pattern formation was precluded by the separations of the individual pages. (Reference our Laboratory Report No. P-FA-D-C-FP-R15, dated 2 September 1970.)

EXAMINER'S NOTE: Regarding the red stain on the edge of the Esquire magazine, Exhibit L, attention is directed to paragraph 22 of the chemistry annex of this report in which it is reported that the red stain is in fact blood and is of the International Blood Group Type A or AB.
During the crime scene process, this magazine was found in one of the two stacks which contained books, magazines, and a cardboard box which was under the edge of the coffee table located in the living room in front of the sofa.
The bloodstain appeared to have been made by a person's finger due to its shape. However, it cannot be positively stated that it was made by a person's finger since definite ridge pattern formation was precluded by the separations of the individual pages.
